Gosh, since I last posted we've really gotten a ton of stuff done!
Mr. W. has a gift for making things square and level with what seems to me very little effort. He made a gorgeous gate for our deck - the problem is that whoever built the railings around the deck did NOT have a gift such as his. He ended up taking out one baluster from the end by the gate opening, cutting off the top cap, then replacing the baluster so that the gate would fit. Apparently there was about 1-1/4 inch difference between the bottom width and top width of the opening. Anyway, we now have a bee-yoo-tiful gate that locks and everything, so our puppy-butt can spend all the time she wants out on the deck and we don't have to worry that she'll go visiting any of the neighbors or find the cliff. Now that she has all this freedom, does she want to go outside? No, of course not. What a little snot.
Last week we also got our outside hose bibs replaced, both front and back. No more fountains! In order to do the replacement safely, the maintenance guys had to make access panels INSIDE the house so that they could get to the internal plumbing. So now we have a metal access door in the walls of both bedrooms - good thing the rooms were empty when they installed them! I've decided not to paint over the metal doors, they'll be covered by furniture eventually.
Also last week we had a tree removed that was smack in the middle of the front yard. The roots were very shallow, and it made the lawn all bumpity. This morning we get to listen to the sweet sound (!) of STUMP GRINDING. Yum. I guess it's a good thing that I haven't done any of the landscaping in that part of the yard, since now we've gone from 'partial shade' to 'full sun'.
On Thursday we had the carpets cleaned in the two bedrooms and the master bath (carpet in the bathroom? Well, THAT is gonna change!). They cleaned up wonderfully, I'm glad to say. Of course, now we need to cover them up with area rugs. Did I mention that we are NOT (off)white-carpet kinda people?
As if this isn't enough for a week, our furniture order arrived from Lowe's. Bookcases, a whole bedroom set, end tables, tv stand... and BUNCH of stuff. Mr. W. spent a good portion of Thursday and Friday putting together the bedroom set and a few other small pieces, mainly so we could get our bedroom put together.
Oh, and ANOTHER thing! Truoc finally arrived on Thursday with a mover - I'll use that term loosely, since I don't think these guys ever moved anything more than the TV remote - and then on Friday with mover AND truck to finally get all of the furniture out of the house! That's the good news. The kinda bad news is that part of what he moved was the washer and dryer, so we're without until our new ones arrive. Mom! We're coming to visit!

About Me
- T
- Cast of characters: Me (T), on my fifth 'career' and second husband. Officially a quilter, but since discovering knitting, found it's easier to knit than to quilt while sitting on my butt in front of the TV. Not born-to-be a mother, but still managed to raise The Girl and The Boy, who each now have offspring of their own (but DON'T call me that "G" word!). Mr. Wonderful, my rock, my love, my conscience. J - My best friend. K - J's husband. L - my teaching backup and pattern designing partner - a fellow quilter who's got even more gadgets than I do! Puppybutt, the cutest, sweetest and most loving little pooch in my universe!
